That's what Minalungao means, according to Wikipedia.. I don't know if I could trust that, but whateverr.

We were resting and catching our breath from climbing the 1000 steps up to this cross, with colorful, grandiose entrance..

1000 steps at Minalungao National Park

..when a woman answered her phone and seemed like she was asked where she was.  I didn't mean to eavesdrop but the place was small and she was talking loud and so everyone's hearing it (so technically, we didn't eavesdrop), and she kinda asked although not directly where she was so one of the bikers, Shaman, replied "Minalungao!"..."mina ng lungaw!" and everyone burst into laughter.  Apparently he's right, he was partly joking and telling the truth because "lungaw" means large hole in the ground and "mina" is mine.. which could literally means "mine of gold in a cave", wikipedia is right then.  It's just that "lungaw" sounds odd.. you know.

Climbing isn't new to me.. I can trek for hours, but I really hate stairs, longs stairs, and this was 1000 steps we're talking about.  I doubt if that's exactly a thousand because some people counted it wrong.. they didn't include the larger/wider steps because it'd be more than a thousand if they did.  Or maybe they fainted for a few seconds and went back to counting.. that could happen, that happens a lot.

As for the caves, we were promised they will tour us to those caves.  Maybe we over stayed in our balsa, in the water, them diving and shooting each other, and doing selfies.. but the promise just vanished, instead, we climbed the stairs.  Although the 1000 steps was also part of the plan, but I was curious about the caves.  I don't know, maybe because after visiting the Sumaguing Cave in Sagada and the underground river in Palawan, I got curious about caves.  And only if we stayed longer, we could have dropped by their rivers and falls.. nature tripping at its finest it could have been.  But it's an enjoyable moment all in all.  After spending the whole day in Minalungao, we stayed in every hosts' houses the next day; for more budol fights and more laughs.
