Sheila and the Insects

I discovered them through MTV Asia and I was surprised.. and I was happy that the band is from the Philippines.  I was in high school then, and MTV was my only source of music so I was kinda exposed to boy bands and girl bands.. seeing them in MTV anyway is inevitable, they're being played all the time and some of them are kinda likable so, yeah.. it's hard to accept, but yeah.

Anyway, Quick to Panic was played on one of their shows and I was hooked instantly.  I was always watching out for their music to play after that, plus their music video is really cool.  Check it out.

new discovery's a treasure

This discovery might not give a huge impact to human kind, but if you adore music like I do, good music that is; indie.. this playlist you would probably enjoy.  I tracked them down in Grooveshark, listened to every artists in that genre, and came out with the best I could recommend.  Most of these artists I haven't heard, most of them were new, and they all have something in common.. they all sound great; feel good music.

Listen.  You won't regret clicking the "play" button.
Trust me.

rainy mood playlist for Music Monday

The rain just looks nice when you're staring at it at your window.  But when you're out and you're supposed to go somewhere and the rain never stops, you're going to curse the nature for making you hate the thing you used to love the most.

The walks under the rain?  I can't remember the time I enjoyed it (except when I was younger).  Why is that?  Because whenever I do walk under the rain, I always or mostly end up soaking wet, and sick.

Music Monday: Chvrches

I heard that they're coming here in Manila supposedly in November but the post advertising the event was deleted.  I hope they just re-scheduled.  We need them to regain our sanity, pnoy is ruining our lives!! ..err, where did that come from?

Their live performance is as good as how they sound in their album.. just please, don't make it too expensive. and please come!

Music Monday: cover songs

There are a bunch of cover songs which I like more than their original versions, but there are of course which are as good as the originals.  And there are songs which I liked because of their versions.. or let's say, they became likable.

Most of these songs are in my playlist already, but some of them I just added today. hihi check them out!

This one is a combined force of Lorde and Haim for Sheryl Crow's Strong Enough.

How do you like cover songs?  Are you a fan?

Music Monday: Lorde

I first heard her on the radio, on Jam, and on that instant I liked her.  I was stunned by her voice.  Her singing is so perfect for me.  She does sounds pop.. but I was enjoying what I was hearing.  So it wasn't a huge surprise that Jam played her, I was actually glad they did.  So I Googled her after learning her name and found out that she's new to the music industry, and seemed like it was only me who haven't heard of her that time.. and that she's soooo young, and a goth. awesome. super awesome.

Music Monday: System of a Down

This is a pretty random choice.. or I don't know, maybe I just thought of sharing something a bit loud because I was super sleepy in the office today.  Is that new??
I thought that could help, plus my coffee, but no,.. it helped me instead to be more relaxed that I didn't notice I was already sleeping.  ..with my eyes open!!  Because no, I can not sleep in the office especially now that there's a new kid in town.

Alright, here we go with the System of a Down playlist.. enjoy!

PS.
now that I'm listening to it.. I'm very much aliiiiiiiive!

Music Monday: Phoenix

Since I posted their setlist last Friday for the Friday Gig, I thought it would be perfect if I let you hear just in case you haven't heard them.  They're one of the greatest bands you must be checking out on times like this.

I think they didn't upload their mushups and I didn't find any in Grooveshark, so I will just re-post the video I used for Friday Gig.

So, once again.. here's Sunskrupt!

And I added one more in the list to make it twenty -- "If It's Not With You".

Music Monday: Warm Bodies soundtrack

This movie was suggested to me by an office mate while we're talking about Jennifer Lawrence, her awesomeness and her boyfriend, and this movie was talked about with the bunch of others.  And we both agreed they're perfect for each other; she's funny and he's hot.. no, they're both hot.  She's a great actress and he's got cute eyes.

And I think he's a perfect zombie and I think the girl looks a lot like Kristen Stewart; the voice, the acting, but I maybe she's got more feelings(?)  And I enjoyed the movie so much, their soundtrack too is so awesome I have to add them to my playlist.  I selected them though.. and from the original 18, it's down to 10.  But don't get me wrong, all them in the list are awesome, it's just that, I don't know, it's pretty hard to explain so I'd rather not.

And here they are, collected from Grooveshark:

I saw some bloopers and I think it's really funny.. but don't worry if you haven't seen the movie, this clip is safe, it won't spoil anything. maybe.  :>

PS. I didn't know this is a novel.  I should have known that first before watching the movie.. but hopefully I could still get a copy.  And I don't know to whom am I going to give credit for R's photo which is so uhmazing.

Music Monday: Lunes

First day of school, Monday.. nobody likes it; not the students, nor the rest of the commuters who again will share the road to hundreds and thousands of students on the road.  You've got to leave the house earlier again, because vacation's over, and they're back.

But I'm not saying I hate them students because I used to be a student too for a long time, we all were.. it's just, they're all over the place.

Now, this song by Join the Club is not connected to schooling.. but its intro saying "unang araw, kay bilis ng galaw, may kalaliman na patungo sa pag ayaw" is all about heartache and giving up which you feel every first day of the week.. from all the traffic added by the heat.

But I'm not complaining, it's been part of my life.  I just want to put this on a song, a list of songs.. this feelings.  huwat???

And the following is another Lunes by Spongecola who are also awesome when performing live.

But I collected some of Hey Monday's songs from Grooveshark because I like that band too.. and they belong.  ;)

Music Monday: Pedicab

I thought of doing Music Monday because I just thought it's cool, and also I think sharing music is like sharing burger to those who don't like burger.  It doesn't make sense, but, Pedicab is one of my most favorite bands.  They've got this unique sound from all the local bands I've heard.  And they will just make you dance.

I just created a Grooveshark account for this, and I'm liking it.
