This gig happened 3 years ago when they launched their album in Eastwood Libis.  They got a pretty nice crowd.  It's a free gig, the place was small, but only those who bought their cd can get near the stage.  We didn't have money that time, so we stayed in the free section.  There were no bouncers, just normal security guards, and they were leaving their posts every now and then which gave me and some other people the idea to cross the fence and join the crazy crowd; the crowd of photographers.

That's what they kept on saying or shouting during the event; The Red Revolution Music Festival featured by Channel [V] Philippines to raise the alarm for HIV awareness.  

2 years ago of February 9th, we went to this gig with a massive lineup of the finest artists for only Php50!  That was one of the greatest gigs I've had, not only because it's really cheap, but they collected all the bands we love and I was able to take a picture of some of them.  

There were 3 stages, if I remember it right.. but no 3 bands played all at once.  They did it to lessen the time of preparation, because you know, setting up the instruments take a lot of time, and so it was a great idea.  And everytime people see their favorite bands setting up, they would go to that area and wait for them to play, leaving the other playing bands with lesser crowd.  

Friday Gig: John Mayer!!! Unknown 9:52 PM

This was the happiest night everrr.. ok, there were tons of happiest nights, and this was one of them.  It was October 1, 2010 when John Mayer serenaded Manila under the rain.. so my photos were mostly umbrellas.  Luckily we were able to get a spot, my friend and I, we were in the gen ad area, and we got to his face close enough.

Friday Gig: Sugarfree's Last Unknown 10:34 PM

I will never forget this moment; we're all happy and sad about seeing one of the finest bands perform live for the last time.  It was one of my first gigs; I just started working then when they decided to let go of each other and move on with their lives.

We arrived at the venue tired, and hungry, and thirsty.  We walked because we were not able to get a ride and they all blamed me for that because I suggested it.  Well it was just a 15 min walk.. yeah, it was really tiring, but if we didn't do that, we could have missed half of the gig.. and not having the time to eat.  But it's all history now, they've forgiven me.  :>

Friday Gig: Paramore Unknown 7:02 PM

So I was listening to my playlist in full volume, almost full, because not only the quality of the music will be crashed, but my eardrums too when I put it on full blast.  I still love my ears.
And so the Paramore played; When it Rains and The Only Exception, and it came back to me.. when I used to really love them.  When I was literally head over heels, and yeahh, I had a girl crush on Hayley Williams.  But it all changed when the band broke up.  They continued making music, but it wasn't the same anymore.. it has become too pop for me.  Well ok, I kinda like Ain't it Fun, but that's all.

So I was lucky to see them perform live before they broke up.  But that too I don't have photos of.  My brother and I were on the veeeeeeeery last part of the concert ground in MOA.  And they were super awesome.  The people too, they were all singing on every songs; shouting on every lyrics and dancing.. that night was so lovely.  They called it "Para-Thrilla in Manila"

I'm not going to give the list of songs they played that day, instead I'll give the list of songs I still have of them: the classics.

Friday Gig: Up Dharma Down Unknown 12:16 AM

I haven't seen this band in ages, and I kinda miss hearing them live.. hopefully soon we'll get to see them again.. aaaand create a more decent sets of photos of them.. but I love these shots of Armi (the vocalist) and my friend, Tin.

I remember the first time I saw them live.. it was in a school fair in college, and they're one of the bands who were invited to play.  That's one of the most amazing days of my college life; to see Up Dharma Down live!  Their music is so powerful, but it's not loud.  It's strong, very strong, but full of heart, and emotions.. and feelings.  ...feelsss.

They have a gig tonight, actually.. it's Friday, but I'm here at home, writing stuff about Friday Gig.  How pathetic is that?  Well aside from I don't have anymore money, I'm too tired from a week-long stress(?) and an increase could probably retain my energy.  (echoing increase.. increase.. increase)

That being said,. I think I won't be able to post on this category that much, because I don't go to gigs that much anymore.  Maybe I'll just talk about them on Music Monday, it's becoming redundant anyway.  This post has become so random. what the eff!

Friday Gig: Phoenix, live in Manila! Unknown 8:05 PM

One of the most unforgettable concerts I've experienced was Phoenix's.  From the day I heard of them coming, I already knew that I will be going to this event alone, which was never a problem.  The only thing I regret though is that I don't have a single photo of them performing.  I didn't bring my camera because I knew that it would be too hard for me to take a picture.  Because I'm in the standing area, a bit far from the stage.. the cheapest ticket I could afford which cost Php3,620.  This is the most expensive concert I've been, and if Passion Pit gets here, I will do the same.

They started an hour late; and everyone's excitement was heard all over the event center as the band emerged from the stage.. everyone's giggling and shouting as they played the first song Entertainment!

But I didn't search for that before going because every Phoenix's songs I love.  I know I won't be disappointed, I just really wanna hear them live.  And it was a super amazing experience.  I still feel the same feelings I felt whenever I play their songs, that's how awesome it was.

The place is small, so it's very intimate.. maybe that's why it's a little expensive.  And on the last song, Thomas Mars went on every corner and touched every one's hands!  I thought I would be able to touch him too because my hands are ready! and I was like OH MY GOOOOD, but no, unfortunately he skipped our crazy crowd and jumped on the stage where the equipment were.  And I could see in his face that he can't believe how much we love them.  The crowd was so amazing.  Everyone's singing, and dancing, and shouting, and giggling on every songs they play (include me to that).  I actually thought I'd be missing my voice the day after.

And from all the songs they played, Love Like a Sunset is my most favorite, and I didn't notice during that gig that it was mashed with Bankrupt!  And they called this mashup, Sunskrupt!

I found a copy of their actual performance in the World Trade Center in Manila, there's just a bit problem on the audio, but imagine this when you hear this live.  It's 10 times awesomer when you're on the actual performance.  I was actually losing my mind.  Until now I'm losing it.
